Mask Making During Pandemic
ARTIFACT Team in Omaha Studio
When we released our No.2020 Reusable Mask on March 25th, it became immediately apparent the world’s demand for this type of protection exceeded our studio’s capabilities. A serendipitous thing happened when a friend reached out to see if we needed mask production help. Our friend offering help is the President of ALGO, a 3rd generation Swiss clothing company founded in 1915, offering bespoke women’s apparel. Algo was also impacted by global pandemic and seeking additional work for his shop of 20 Swiss-trained sewers residing in Istanbul. Our partnership prevented staff layoffs on both sides and enabled us to provide more quality masks globally.

We retooled our ARTIFACT studio for social distancing and mask focused workflow. We also hired 5 additional staff to help with production. With the help of our new manufacturing partner, we resolved our backlog and are able to offer more mask options. Our MERV-14 mask filter packs are also back in stock.
ARTIFACT-designed masks made by our manufacturing partner are all finished and quality checked in our Omaha studio. They will have a tag representing our collaboration as soon as available. We’ll also continue to offer masks made entirely in our Omaha studio. They have an ARTIFACT tag and adjusted pricing for domestic labor and sustainability.
