Sustainability

Built to Stay in Use
We believe the most sustainable products are often the ones that do not need to be replaced.
ARTIFACT products are designed for long-term use with an emphasis on durability, repairability, and materials that age well over time. Rather than chasing disposable trends or seasonal turnover, we focus on making useful objects people will continue reaching for years from now.
That philosophy informs how we design, produce, repair, and package our products.
Repair Over Replacement
We encourage customers to repair products whenever practical rather than discard them.
We offer repair services for many ARTIFACT bags and aprons to extend their usable life and reduce unnecessary waste. Zippers, straps, stitching, and worn components can often be repaired or replaced long after a product has entered regular use.
Wear, patina, fading, and repair are not failures to us — they are evidence of a product being used as intended.
Reducing Waste
With the help of Omaha-based Hillside Solutions, our studio composts or recycles more than 90% of our production waste.
We also use minimal packaging materials whenever practical and offer local pickup for customers in Omaha.
Up-Cycled & Limited Materials
Many ARTIFACT products incorporate reclaimed, deadstock, vintage, or up-cycled materials including awning fabric, shelter halves, denim, and other textiles originally built for demanding use.
Working with these materials allows us to extend the useful life of existing resources while creating products with unique texture, character, and history.
Because these materials are finite, many of these releases are produced in very limited quantities.
Small Batch Production
The majority of ARTIFACT products are produced in small batches by our team in Omaha, Nebraska, alongside select goods made with trusted manufacturing partners.
Producing in smaller quantities allows us to move more intentionally, reduce overproduction, refine products over time, and maintain closer oversight of materials and construction.
A Practical Approach
We do not view sustainability as a marketing feature or a finished achievement.
It is an ongoing process of making thoughtful decisions about materials, waste, longevity, packaging, production, and repairability. As a small business, we continue refining those practices over time wherever practical and meaningful.
Products with purpose. Made to be used.
