Field Test: Wax Twill Backpack in Isle of Skye Scotland
Photographer Dan Brouillette and his girlfriend field tested our No.740 Wax Twill Backpack during a recent trip to Isle of Skye, with a lot of hiking and rain.
It's interesting to observe how the backpack's Wickett & Craig harness leather straps and 18oz wax twill immediately start to break in and develop personality that is unique to each bag.
We chose strap leather from Wickett & Craig tannery in Pennsylvania because for 150+ years, they've provided a premium product for equestrian and numerous other industries - where leather is rigorously tested. Also, their harness leather is vegetable tanned using tannins from oak bark, and other ecologically friendly natural materials. Vegetable tanned leathers are allowed to patina which wonderfully compliments waxed twills and canvases.
Our backpack is unisex and perfectly sized for daily carry. It has an internal pocket for stowing up to a 15" laptop, as well as a sleeve for water bottles, or thermoses. It has a hidden passport pocket under the main flap and three leather tether points for securing items like a jacket to the bag. See more details and images here.
