The No.770 Kit Bag was inspired by the WWII-era aviator kit bags used by the U.S. Army Air Forces. Originally designed to carry an airman's equipment, these oversized bags were also adopted by paratroopers to transport their parachutes and harnesses.

I've long admired the simplicity and utility of these bags, but their enormous size and lack of organization make them impractical for modern travel. I saw an opportunity to retain the distinctive shape and character of the original while rethinking its proportions and functionality.

The result is a compact, rectangular duffel with a generous 35.7-liter capacity, thoughtfully placed pockets, and reinforced construction. Unlike conventional cylindrical duffels, its shape makes it easier to pack, carry, and stow in an overhead compartment.

I've traveled with my own Kit Bag for years, and it has accompanied me on countless flights without ever having to check it, even on fully booked planes. While I can't guarantee the same experience on every airline, that reliability is precisely what I set out to achieve.

It's our interpretation of a classic piece of military equipment, adapted to meet the demands of contemporary travel.

Materials

• Outer Shell: Heavyweight, 100% cotton No. 4 duck canvas.
• Leather: Full-grain, vegetable-tanned Horween leather from Chicago, Illinois.
• Lining: 100% cotton herringbone twill (HBT), inspired by WWII military textiles.
• Handles: Military-specification nylon webbing with reinforced stitching.
• Hardware: Solid brass.

Our materials are selected for their durability, utility, and ability to develop character through years of use. Natural variations in the leather's grain and color are inherent characteristics of the material.

Care

Canvas: Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not machine wash or use detergents. Allow to air dry away from direct sunlight.

Leather: Our leathers are conditioned at the tannery and require little maintenance under normal use. Wipe clean with a damp cloth as needed. Avoid soaking the leather. If it becomes wet, allow it to dry naturally, away from direct heat. Additional conditioning is generally unnecessary with normal use.
