From the Woodpile to the Hearth

Carrying firewood is a simple job, but a good log carrier makes a noticeable difference.

The No.14 was designed to move an armload of firewood from the woodpile to the house without balancing loose logs against your clothing or leaving a trail of bark and debris behind. Its generous size carries a substantial load, while the enclosed ends help keep firewood contained as you walk.

Unlike an open firewood sling, the No.14 wraps around the load. Logs, kindling, loose bark, and wood chips stay largely inside the carrier rather than falling onto the floor along the way.

Built for the Weight

Firewood is heavy, rough, and unforgiving on materials. The No.14 is built accordingly.

We use substantial 24 oz. cotton duck canvas for the body—heavy enough to withstand repeated contact with split wood and abrasive bark while remaining flexible enough to wrap around an irregular load.

Full-grain bridle leather handles provide a strong, comfortable grip and will soften and develop character with use. Solid brass hardware and a leather closure strap complete the carrier without adding unnecessary complexity.

These are materials chosen for a job that involves weight, friction, dirt, and repeated use.

Carry It. Set It Down. Leave It There.

The No.14 doesn't stop being useful once the firewood reaches the house. After carrying a load in from the woodpile, simply set the loaded carrier beside the fireplace or wood stove and leave the firewood stored inside until it's needed.

Its enclosed construction allows the No.14 to double as fireside log storage. The heavy canvas holds the wood contained while helping keep loose bark, wood chips, and debris off the floor. When it's time to build or tend a fire, the next log is already within reach.

Once the carrier is empty, pick it up and head back to the woodpile for another load.

That transition from firewood carrier to fireside storage is central to the design. The same object used to bring the wood into the house becomes the place where the wood is kept beside the hearth—no separate basket or container required.

Made in Omaha

Each No.14 Log Carrier is cut and sewn in small batches at our Omaha, Nebraska studio from heavy cotton duck canvas, full-grain bridle leather, and solid brass hardware.

It's purpose-built equipment for a basic household ritual: bringing wood in, keeping it beside the hearth, and containing some of the mess that comes with it.
