I used to find vintage pouches with these spring steel jaw closures at thrifts and estate sales and thought they were fun. A few years ago, a friend showed me one she used when she lived in Europe to hold her Euros in. She said I should design something with this style closure, so I did! I have them in my guitar cases to hold picks, in my car to hold parking meter change, in my bag to hold my earbuds and camera SD cards. So many uses. 

I'm always on the hunt for vintage materials to use with ARTIFACT designs and love antique painted awning cloth. It's cotton canvas and the stripes and colors are printed over the surface like silkscreen. With time and use the material softens like an old band tee shirt.

The awning industry moved on to woven polyester materials decades ago, so it's great to upcycle this material into such an ideal use.
